Settings

The neuron-catalog is configured through the standard Meteor settings. When you start the Meteor server, you must pass these settings. For example:

meteor run --settings server/server-config.json

Configuration variables

The file server/server-config.json.example is provided as an example configuration file. It looks like this:

{"NeuronCatalogSpecializations": ["Drosophila melanogaster"],
 "DefaultUserRoles": ["read-write"],
 "DemoMode": true,
 "AWSAccessKeyId": "key",
 "AWSSecretAccessKey": "secret",
 "AWSRegion": "us-east-1",
 "S3Bucket": "bucket"}

The options are:

  • NeuronCatalogSpecializations Because the neuron-catalog could be used for any species, any specializations for a particular species must be enabled. List of Strings. Currently, "Drosophila melanogaster" is the only supported specialization. (Optional.)
  • DefaultUserRoles When a user creates an account (without any email verifcation), what roles should the user have? For maximum security, set this to and empty list []. An administrator can then add the user to the appropriate role (e.g. "read-write" or "read-only"). For more convenience, set to ["read-write"] so that each new user can read and write the database.
  • DemoMode When true, this limits the maximum upload size to 10 MB. (Optional.)
  • AWSAccessKeyId This string is the S3 access key.
  • AWSSecretAccessKey This string is the S3 secret key.
  • AWSRegion This string is the S3 region. (Optional.)
  • S3Bucket This string is the S3 bucket.
